Owl add-on

Customise your nature day by adding an owl experience to your conservation volunteering session at our Scottish Borders community woodland

Our owl add-on combines an amazing encounter with native Scottish owl species with the opportunity to become a conservation volunteer at our community woodland.

You’ll meet the owls at Mauldsheugh Wood, our own community wildlife project in Selkirk at the heart of the Scottish Borders.

You’ll join a ranger for a walk into the wood before meeting the owls – including a tawny owl and a barn owl. The hands-on experience lets you get to see these beautiful birds up close and take part in a flying display.

You’ll spend the rest of the session as a conservation volunteer in the woods.

Activities can be as simple as topping up the bird feeders and sitting back to watch the wonderful bird life of the woods.

Or you can get your hands dirty helping to develop the community project – we’re currently working on a forest school for use by the community and local school groups.

Please note that the price is based on the use of your own transport: we can arrange minibus, coach or luxury vehicles at an additional cost. Contact us for details.

We run our nature adventures to give more people a chance to enjoy the wildlife of southern Scotland and to help cover the cost of our community nature and wildlife projects. All profits go back into the community interest company to enable us to continue to operate Mauldsheugh Wood, along with nature clubs, school visits and collaborations with other community groups.
